Professional Excellence

When you hire Donna Francavilla to do your voice-over work, you are hiring a broadcast professional with many years of experience. Donna Francavilla’s passion for news began when she was enrolled at Rutgers University: Shelby County Reporter (http://bit.ly/22pc804). Ambitious, by the time she obtained her journalism degree, she had already worked at three major-market radio stations.

That kind of passion is still visible by observers in the field. Two former Reuters stringers have witnessed her adroitness in piecing together, editing and filing her reports on the fly in the many challenging conditions and locations in which they covered the same events.

Her breadth of work includes not only her frequent work with CBS Radio News, but also fill-in work for local news talk radio stations (bit.ly/1Y06RWh) and doing voice over work for commercial entities and public service announcements, and appearances on local television news stations (bit.ly/22ZtKwC)

Francavilla took top honors every single year that she has been a member. The mother of four captured the sweepstakes award when she won in 12 categories. (bit.ly/1SlcnyH)

Donna Francavilla has received “Who’s Who in the World” distinction. Locally, her professional contributions were noted when she was chosen as Positive Maturity’s “Top 50 Over 50”: (bit.ly/1RJ9QOh); (bit.ly/1Pen7WM)

For seven consecutive years, Francavilla’s news reporting contributions were credited for helping CBS Radio News win the RTDNA’s Edward R Murrow Overall Excellence Awards. Closer to home, her election night reporting for National Public Radio’s WBHM-FM helped the news team win a coveted Associated Press Award.

Francavilla is a two-time RTDNF International Journalism Exchange Fellowship Graduate, (2000; 2006). (bit.ly/1UTtfCF); (bit.ly/22MCmdf)

Francavilla not only collects awards, she helps others to receive them. She has served as an RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards Radio News Judge volunteer since 2006.

Alabama Media Professionals

Between 3/2014-3/2016,  Francavilla has served as AMP’s Vice President of Professional Development. In that role, she envisioned, organized, and increased membership by staging AMP’s 2014 and 2015 Navigating Today’s Media conferences. The conferences educated attendees as well as helped spread community, professional and public awareness. Francavilla tapped her extensive network to bring in compelling speakers for monthly meetings. At a special AMP event, along with a reporter who works in a communist nation, Francavilla spoke to AMP members about what it was like to cover stories in communist and former communist countries (China, Cuba, Poland, East Germany): http://bit.ly/1Y0RuNi; She hosted annual executive meetings in her home, and represented AMP at the Alabama Broadcasters Convention.
