Content Creators Converge for Fixin’ to Write™ Conference
Media experts from several genres converged at the Greystone Founders Golf and Country Club on September 1, 2016 for information-packed concurrent sessions focused on communications at the Fixin’ To Write Fall Conference. Greystone resident and founder of Frankly Speaking Communications, LLC, Donna Francavilla, invited authors, digital marketers, public relations and publicity experts, and freelance writers and photographers to speak to local journalists, producers, authors and content creators.
Topics at the Fixin’ to Write™ workshop addressed how to publish and market an author’s work, how to use social media to promote and brand their publications including how to get interviewed and what to say, how to build a successful website, using some very helpful APPs and how to seek grant monies.
Alabama Media Professionals co-sponsored the event and many of their members attended. Greystone Ladies Club member Michelle Matlock attended, tweaking her talents as she prepares to publish her magazine.
Attendees could follow three tracks emphasized by the workshop sessions - media, self-improvement and top internet tools.
Feedback on the session gave high marks to the venue and the speaker sessions.
Debra Nelson, Head of Corporate Communications at Brasfield & Gorrie, received the highest praise from attendees with her presentation on Branding Like a Boss.
The most widely read political commentator in the state of Alabama, Steve Flowers, entertained with excerpts from his book of Goats & Governors, 6 decades of Colorful Alabama Political Stories. Steve signed copies of his book.Kathryn C. Lang generated lots of laughs while demonstrating how to use humor in business relationships.
